Alliance Partner Organizations
The DA Portfolio is comprised of organizations that are capacity builders, and that are producing innovative ideas and developing new technologies. The Alliance is uniquely positioned to support groups through different types of investments, including seed capital, growth capital, and funding to build management capacity. The Alliance seeks to fund groups that are positioned to have a long-term impact, but that are also achieving short-term successes that move them towards achieving long-term goals.
The Alliance seeks to maximize the impact of Partner financial contributions by recommending a portfolio of groups that work together through new collaborations, networks, and productive alliances. The Alliance is committed to supporting groups that advance the progressive agenda through idea generation and development on core issues, train new progressive leaders, engage and mobilize citizens in advancing the progressive agenda at all levels, and use new technologies and approaches to communicate progressive values, policies and messages.
There are a great number of progressive organizations that are doing valuable work to grow the progressive movement. However, funding proposals are reviewed by the Alliance on an invitation-only basis.
Support from Democracy Alliance Partners has been critical to the Drum Major Institute as we have developed innovative tools that enable those on the frontlines to advance an agenda of social and economic justice. With backing from Alliance Partners, we have used technology to make sure members of Congress honor their commitment to support legislation that expands and strengthens America's middle class, expanded our Marketplace of Ideas series highlighting examples of progressive policy working throughout the country, and welcomed our first class of DMI Scholars, young activists from underrepresented communities that we are training for careers in public policy.

Democracy Alliance Partners have shown their commitment to building the new base of progressive voters - young people - through continued support for the Young Democrats of America. As a result of support from Democracy Alliance Partners, YDA has been able to grow our peer-to-peer young voter mobilization campaigns. We have also been able to focus on long-term growth in building a youth voting bloc through trainings, year-round staff in the states, and innovative programs to grow membership in all 50 states.

By making long-term investments in training institutes like the Center for Progressive Leadership, the Democracy Alliance is supporting a generation of diverse, new leaders who are advancing the progressive agenda. With core, multi-year funding commitments, support from Democracy Alliance Partners has enabled the Center for Progressive Leadership to develop innovative new models and increase training levels by over 300% in the past two years.

Women's Voices. Women Vote has harnessed the force that is changing America - the emergence of an unmarried majority. Single women lead this trend as the growth factor in American politics: overwhelmingly progressive, a significant force in the electorate, but with unrealized power. Fifteen million aren't registered and 5 million don't vote. Research-driven and results-oriented, WVWV and the Action Fund encourage unmarried women to register, vote, and make informed choices. Support from Alliance Partners enabled us to reach millions more unmarried women whose participation resulted in a sea change in who governs America.

Funding from the Democracy Alliance Partners allowed the NDN Political Fund to conduct one of the most innovative, advocacy campaigns of recent years - our "mas que un partido" campaign that used the iconic sport of soccer to reach Spanish-speaking citizens in new and powerful ways. Their support allowed us to continue to demonstrate the capabilities of modern media, and to reach the Hispanic community at a time when the harsh rhetoric of the immigration debate left them wondering who was fighting for them. This campaign was cutting-edge, impactful and was only possible because of the support from Alliance Partners.

As a result of the infusion of growth capital from Alliance Partners, Young People For has deepened and expanded our programs serving young progressive leaders in our nationwide network. We tightened our recruitment strategies and expanded our nominator networks, and were able to recruit an increasingly impressive group of candidates into the 2007 National Fellowship Program. This expansion resulted in the selection of 180 Fellows from 65 campuses in 18 states, and included a stronger tribal college and community college network. As the 470 Fellows move through the program, the Education and Leadership Department is now equipped to develop them into effective progressive leaders through advanced education, experiential learning, and the leadership training that is critical to turning youth organizing and engagement into a lifelong role in the progressive movement.
